Lesson Terms & Conditions

This page outlines how lessons are scheduled, paid for, and managed, and is subject to change.

Rates & Payment

  • New students are invited to a one-time, complimentary session to discuss goals, ask questions, and experience the studio environment firsthand..

  • Following your trial lesson, should you choose to join the student community, the tuition for the remainder of the current month and the upcoming month must be paid within two business days to secure your placement in the schedule.

  • Lessons are billed on a monthly basis.

    • 4-week month: $240

    • 5-week month: $300

  • Your tuition reserves a weekly lesson time. The time of your lesson has been reserved and is unavailable to any other student.

  • Payment is due on the first business day of the month to reserve your time slot.

  • Payments can be made via Direct Deposit.

  • Late or missed payments may result in your time slot being offered to another student.

Refunds

  • Fees are non-refundable except in exceptional cases, such as injury or health issues preventing continuation. No refunds will be issued if the student stops lessons mid-month due to a change of mind.

  • If a student has a positive balance due to credits from an unplanned absence and is not continuing at the end of a month, a refund will be issued.

Cancellations

  • If you need to cancel a lesson, please give at least 24 hours’ notice via the MyMusicStaff Portal. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be forfeited.

  • Students whose regular lessons are held in the studio can choose a Zoom lesson with two hours’ notice if they're unable to attend in person.

  • If I ever need to cancel a fully paid lesson, I’ll let you know as soon as possible and do one of the following:

    • Credit your next invoice a pro rata amount of $60AUD per lesson missed for unplanned absences such as illness or injury.

    • Reduce your invoice by a pro rata amount of $60AUD for planned breaks and public holidays for the month the breaks occur.

Make-up credits.

  • Students are entitled to two make-up credits within a 6-month cycle. The cycle runs from March 1st to August 31st, then from September 1st to February 28th/29th.

  • Unused credits will expire 90 days after accrual.

  • These credits can be used to book a one-on-one (in-studio or via Zoom) makeup lesson via MyMusicStaff and are subject to availability.

  • Make-up credits cannot be used to reduce future invoices are are non-refundable.

Asynchronous Video Lessons

  • All students who can’t attend their one-on-one lesson with at least 24hrs notice will be eligible for an Asynchronous video lesson.

  • Asynchronous video lessons are filmed during your regular lesson time and are tailored to help you maintain progress between your in-person lessons.

  • Students can receive an Asynchronous lesson even if they have reached their make-up credit cap.

  • Asynchronous video lessons are custom-made and will be sent via email and MyMusicStaff, along with all related materials, within 2 business days of your scheduled lesson.

Pausing Lessons

• You can pause your lessons for a minimum of 3 weeks up to a maximum of one month per calendar year without losing your spot.

• To reserve your time slot, tuition for the first month back must be paid in advance.

• This must be arranged with at least 14 days’ notice via email.

• Any further or longer breaks are considered withdrawals, and your regular spot may be given to a waitlisted student.

Online Lessons

If you’re learning online:

  • Please have a reliable internet connection and a quiet space to play.

  • We’ll use Zoom, and a meeting invitation will be sent to your email.

  • A basic camera/mic setup is enough, but I’m happy to help you get set up if you want better audio or visibility.

Public Holidays

Lessons do not run on public holidays (except Australia Day), and monthly invoices are adjusted to reflect that.

If your regular lesson falls on a holiday, that session is not billed, and no make-up is needed.

Lesson Materials

Lesson materials, both printed and digital, are intended solely for the student they are created for, and should not be shared or distributed without permission.
