About my teaching studio.

Many adults who decide to try guitar or bass have likely given it a shot before and then paused, not because they weren't capable, but because traditional lessons don't always cater to how adults learn best.

My teaching studio was created with the goal of guiding adult guitarists and bassists to not only play songs they enjoy but also to stay inspired and grow more confident each day as lifelong players.

I offer private Guitar and Bass lessons at my home studio in West Footscray or online through Zoom, using multi-cam video and studio-quality audio. Whether in person or online, the experience is immersive, fun and collaborative.

Lessons are one-on-one and built on the musical experience I’ve gained through teaching thousands of lessons, as well as 20 years of playing in studios and on stages across Australia.

Whether you’re just starting out with an instrument or eager to improve your skills, we’ll focus on the tools and techniques that will get you making music on Guitar or Bass in no time.

What my students are saying

What You’ll Learn

If you’re a beginner unsure where to start, a self-taught player with scattered skills struggling to connect everything, or a hobbyist wanting more structured learning — these lessons are for you.

Lessons combine essential skills with songs you’ll love to play, making everything feel musical and meaningful right from the beginning. You'll get to work on things like:

Acoustic & Electric Guitar

  • The 8 core open chords and how to use them

  • Strumming patterns and how to make your own

  • Reading chord charts and TAB

  • Getting the most out of a capo

  • Developing strong rhythm and playing with feel

  • Music theory fundamentals

  • Barre chords (E and A string root)

  • Fingerpicking (Travis Picking)

  • Introduction to lead guitar and commonly used scales

  • Triads and how to use them

  • Figuring out music by ear (basic transcription)

Bass Guitar

  • Navigating the fretboard: note names and common shapes

  • Reading TAB and rhythm notation

  • Developing solid time and groove

  • Playing finger-style and with a pick

  • Music theory fundamentals

  • Figuring out music by ear

  • How to make your own bass parts

  • For those who want to go further: tone shaping, how to approach recording and live performance.

This approach is thoughtfully designed to let you learn at your own pace. The outcome? You’ll be able to play real songs and gain the confidence to continue exploring on your own. It’s all about supporting you every step of the way!
